CLOSED: FASD Cooking, Connection & Confidence: A Sibling Experience

February 22 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free

This interactive cooking experience is designed specifically for siblings who have a brother or a sister with possible or diagnosed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and who reside in Dufferin Wellington or Guelph. Led by a local chef, Claire Bell from Woolen Mill Kitchen, participants will engage in a fun, hands-on cooking activity that builds confidence, creativity, and practical kitchen skills.

Together, siblings will prepare a simple recipe they can later replicate at home with their sibling or family. After cooking, the group will enjoy the meal together in a relaxed and supportive environment.

A key part of this activity will be a guided, informal discussion where siblings can connect with peers who share similar experiences. An older sibling will share their personal journey, offering insight, coping strategies, and reassurance from a lived-experience perspective.

This gathering aims to:

  • Create a positive, inclusive space just for siblings
  • Build confidence and independence through cooking
  • Encourage peer connection and reduce feelings of isolation
  • Share practical strategies and supportive insights from lived experience

This event offers siblings a chance to have fun, feel understood, and build meaningful connections, while enjoying good food and good company.
