Dufferin Child and Family Services (DCAFS) is responsible for the safety and protection of children. Wherever possible DCAFS works to keep children in their own family. When this is not possible, a child may be brought into the care of DCAFS.
Foster Care is the first choice in these situations because most children’s needs are best met in a family environment.
Dufferin Child & Family Services is seeking foster parents with specialized parenting skills to provide emergency, short term foster care for children and youth, including teenagers.
The successful candidate(s) will receive a daily, tax-free retainer to be available for placements as needed and further daily compensation once children/youth are placed in the home. You will often be working with children/youth who have emotional and behavioral needs. We are seeking a home with the availability for sibling groups.
Assessment of the children’s needs is delivered through an integrated team approach that individualizes services for each child/youth. Admission foster parents are trained, supervised, and supported by our program staff, including a consulting psychologist, and play a primary role in initial therapeutic interventions. The program’s goal is to reunite the child/youth with his or her family or to assist in assessment for longer term care. To view the Admission Home Foster Parent Info please click here.
