Your elementary age students, who require developmental supports, are in for a treat as they embark on a journey to acquire essential skills needed for a smooth transition to their next school adventure. This incredible opportunity to set your child up for success.

PLEASE NOTE: Students will have to be present on site at 224 Centennial Rd. Orangeville to participate.
Some of the essential skills we are looking to explore:
- Following classroom routines (e.g., lining up, sitting cross legged to listen to a story etc…)
- Follows multi-step instructions
- Requesting items/ actions
- Gains listener attention appropriately
- Answers social questions (e.g., name, age, etc.)
- Shares info. about self, family, major events
- Makes reciprocal comments
- Shares info. about immediate past/ future
- Converses on age-appropriate topics
- Uses contextually appropriate language/ introduces topic
- Follows a classroom schedule
- raising hand when a task has been completed, to get additional help or to get teacher attention
- Gives items to peers when taking turns, sharing objects and handing out materials
- Transitioning from one activity to another
- Transitioning from one location to another
- Social play and interaction
- Sportsmanship
- Demonstrating awareness of personal space
- Demonstrating flexibility when something changes (new seating arrangement, a class visitor, new teacher etc..)
- Waiting between activities and when peers are answering questions
- Using calming strategies when there are frustrations/upset
