SUMMARY:WAITLIST: FASD Call to Action
DESCRIPTION:Alcohol consumption during pregnancy: No safe amount. No safe time.Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) affects at least 4% of our population. It is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder that can impact learning\, behaviour\, physical and mental health\, and daily living. Collective action is urgently needed in Wellington\, Guelph\, and Dufferin to develop a coordinated service system that supports individuals and families affected by FASD as well as prevent the prevalence of FASD through education and awareness. \n\nA Call to Action\nFrontline Staff\, Decision Makers\, Senior Leadership… we need you!\nFetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is complex and often misunderstood impacting many individuals\, caregivers and families. Awareness is crucial\, but it must be coupled with tangible action. We are calling upon policymakers\, educators\, healthcare professionals\, service providers\, and community members to join forces in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for those living with FASD. \nBy working collaboratively\, we can enhance understanding and reduce the stigma surrounding FASD\, ensuring that individuals impacted receive the compassion and resources they need. This means implementing comprehensive training for educators and healthcare providers\, advocating for policies that support affected families\, and creating community programs that promote awareness and understanding of FASD. \nTogether\, we can dismantle barriers and build a society that recognizes the challenges faced by individuals with FASD while celebrating their strengths and potential. It is time to transform awareness into action and to create a brighter future for those impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. \nJoin us at Wellington County Museum and Archives (0536 Wellington Rd 18\, Fergus\, ON N1M 0A1) on September 24th\, and let’s unite in this mission and take meaningful steps toward change!\nSNEAK PEEKS!
