DESCRIPTION:IN-PERSON EVENT: CMHA Waterloo Wellington\, 392 Main Street North\, Mount Forest\nWe are excited to announce our upcoming in-person Learning Series – Cyber Safety and Human Trafficking Awareness\, hosted by Crime Stoppers. This informative session will feature Guest Speaker Sarah Bowers-Peters from Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington\, who will guide parents/caregivers through essential best practices for engaging safely online. \nThe presentation will not only address the critical\, current topic but will also delve into the prevention of identity theft and fraud\, highlighting the importance of safeguarding personal information in our digital age. Additionally\, we will discuss the pervasive issue of cyber bullying\, exploring its severe consequences and the steps individuals can take to mitigate its impact. \nThrough this session\, we aim to establish a vital connection between internet usage and various crimes\, including sex trafficking. By raising awareness and providing practical strategies\, we hope to empower parents/caregivers to navigate the online world more safely and responsibly. \nJoin us\, in-person\, at CMHA Waterloo Wellington Mount Forest\, for this important discussion as we work together to combat these pressing issues in our own communities.\nGUEST SPEAKER: Sarah Bowers-Petter - Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington\nSarah Bowers-Peter has served as the Program Coordinator for Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington since 2014. During this time\, she has increased awareness of the Crime Stoppers program\, as well as emerging crimes such as Human Trafficking\, Fraud and Hate Crime. Sarah works closely with Victim Services Wellington and supports Guelph Wellington Women in Crisis\, prioritizing initiatives that increase awareness to crimes against women and the LGBTQ2S+ Community. Sarah served three terms on the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers (OACS) Board of Directors and was appointed Communications Advisor for the Canadian Crime Stoppers Association from 2017 to 2023. She received the Coordinator Achievement Award from OACS in 2019 and the Paul D Boudreau Coordinator of the Year award in 2020 from Crime Stoppers International. In July 2024\, Sarah received The Accolade Award from OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique for her efforts in developing an Indigenous focused Crime Stoppers message.\n\n\n\n\nRegister today! \nComplete the form below to register. SUMMARY:DWG FASD Action Group Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the Dufferin Wellington Guelph FASD Action Group is to establish a network of professionals and caregivers dedicated to increasing capacity\, understanding\, and awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) across the Dufferin\, Wellington\, and Guelph regions. By fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration\, the group aims to develop and enhance supports and services for individuals and families affected by FASD. \nThe group also works in partnership with other organizations to advocate for better understanding\, improved services\, and increased funding. Additionally\, the group facilitates community and professional education\, supports funding applications\, and oversees the effective use of grant and conference revenues.
