How Can I Become A Foster Parent?

Simply call our office at (519) 941-1530 and press “0” and ask for central intake.

Whether you’re ready now or are seeking more information, our central intake will be happy to talk with you and answer any questions. The next step is yours!

If you decide that you want to be a foster parent/family now, you will need to complete a Foster Parent Application package.  A police record check will  need to be completed and you will need to consent to an agency record check.  Three references are required for each parent who applies to foster.  A home inspection will be completed to ensure that your home meets foster home standards as required by the Ministry of Child and Youth Services. Once all of your paper work is received, your family will be assigned to a resource worker who will meet with you and get to know you and any family members living in the home.  As part of the process of getting to know you, you and your partner, where applicable, will be required to take nine evenings of P.R.I.D.E preservice training (over a nine week period).  The purpose of the P.R.I.D.E training is to help you learn more about what is involved in fostering so that you can decide, with the agency’s assistance, if this is something you want to do.
